Bible– Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone forgive as the Lord forgives you.

Mahatma Gandhi – the weak can never forgive: forgiveness is an attribute of the strong

Psychologist define forgiveness as a conscious , deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment or hurt  towards a person or group who has harmed you regardless of whether  they deserve your forgiveness .

Forgiveness does not imply forgetting as most people have been hurt by actions or words of another person perhaps a mother criticizing a child, a senior colleague treating a subordinate badly at work or your partner having an affairs, these act leaves you feeling hurt, angry and bitter.

By embracing forgiveness you get greater peace, hope and joy, thereby releasing yourself from stress and progress toward the path of emotional and spiritual well being.

When you let go a feeling of less anxiety, higher self esteem and psychological well being becomes a part of your attitude and actions

Forgiveness discharges positive energy that saves our greatest good and takes us to the level of freedom.

Imagine a couple that just got married and two months after their martial vows the wife starts having an affair with her junior colleague at her place of work because the husband is always traveling as a result of his job function.

And when he discovered the illicit affair, he was devastated. After months of lack of communication and trust, they couple decided to seek the help of a marriage counselor and was reconciled as he was willing to forgive her.

Today, they are happily married with two kids and their bonding is stronger than before.

Assuming the husband refuses to forgive. There is a possibility that anger, depression and mostly divorce will destroy the marriage. So you ask yourself. Do you really want to keep all that? Probably not
